Papers of and Relating to Military and Civilian Personnel, 1874–1899

1874-1899

This series contains correspondence, oaths of allegiance, and cross reference slips to documents in numerous other series of Confederate records. The identity of the person referenced in the document is not always clear. For military personnel the references are mainly to receipt rolls for clothing and to detail and extra duty rolls. For civilians, they are mainly references to civilian employment records, such as those for hospital attendants and clerks. There are some papers relating to spies and other Confederate sympathizers.
